The biggest welcome bonuses: large packages and what they really cost
Players differ more than the casinos admit: some want a "free chip" and nothing else, some refuse every bonus so as to withdraw when they please. Others go for the largest "welcome bonus" they can find, in absolute value ($1,500 over five deposits) or in percentage (two or three hundred per cent of the first deposit). This page is for the third kind, and we have written it against the banners rather than for them.
A large bonus is a large loan of play money, repaid in bets. Its real price is in three figures that the card never prints in full: the deposits needed to collect the whole "package", the "wagering" (the volume of bets required before a withdrawal, also called "playthrough") and the base to which it applies, the bonus alone or deposit and bonus together.
The figures are the operators' published terms at our last check (October 2026), which can change without notice; the casino's own page prevails over this one. Every casino here was tried by the editorial team in "demo" mode (free play, without depositing), and nothing on this page claims a deposit or a withdrawal of ours, as the About page explains.

Markets: the operators listed on our pages address the international, non-regulated market and do not hold a licence in every country from which our readers arrive: before registering, it is the player's responsibility to check that the law of the country in which he or she is located allows playing with that operator.

How to read a welcome package: the deposits, the match and the wagering
The "match" is the percentage that the casino adds to a deposit (one hundred per cent doubles it, fifty per cent adds half), up to a ceiling, and a package is a series of matches over the first three, four or five deposits whose ceilings add up to the headline. The "headline" is reached only by a player who makes every deposit at the maximum, which is the first thing to compute with the card in hand.
Golden Tiger's $1,500 is the clearest example, because its card gives every step. One hundred per cent up to $100 on the first deposit, fifty per cent up to $300 on the second, twenty per cent up to $500 on the third, thirty per cent up to $500 on the fourth and one hundred per cent up to $100 on the fifth. The arithmetic is simple and nobody prints it, so we do.
A player who wants the whole $1,500 must deposit $100, then $600 (fifty per cent of six hundred is three hundred), then $2,500, then about $1,667 and $100 again, close to $5,000 in all, for a bonus that the banner presents as a gift! Luxury Casino's $1,000 over five deposits and Grand Hotel's $560 over four follow the same logic, with decreasing percentages (one hundred, fifty, thirty and twenty per cent at Grand Hotel, as its card says).
The "$5,000 in other promotions" that Grand Hotel adds for the first year is a sum of future offers, each with its own terms, not a balance credited on the day. Our review of Luxury Casino walks through its package deposit by deposit, with the "rollover" (another name for the wagering) of each step.
Thirty times the bonus, or thirty-five times deposit and bonus together
The wagering is the figure that decides, and the base matters more than the multiple. A player who deposits $200 and receives a bonus of $200, under a wagering of thirty times the bonus alone, must place $6,000 in bets (thirty times two hundred) before asking for a withdrawal. Under the same thirty times applied to deposit and bonus together, the bets required become $12,000, twice as many for the same card!
Luxury and Grand Hotel publish a wagering of two hundred times on the first bonuses and thirty times on the later ones (their cards quote the figures). A first deposit of $100 matched with $100 asks for $20,000 in bets, while the third deposit of the series asks for $3,000 per $100 of bonus. The first figure is, in our view, the one to read before depositing anything at all.
Legend Play applies thirty-five times to deposit and bonus together (a first deposit of $500 matched with $500 means $35,000 in bets, since the base is $1,000). Royalist Play applies forty times on the same base, with a "coupon code" to be typed in for each deposit of a package that is published in euro on the operator's page. Forty times deposit and bonus on a match of one hundred per cent is eighty times the deposit, however the banner words it!
"Sticky" bonuses, automatic bonuses and the right to refuse
Two families of bonus exist behind the same percentages. In the first the bonus is kept on a separate balance ("bonus money"), the real money is played first or last according to the house, and once the wagering is complete the bonus becomes "cashable", which means that it can be withdrawn like any other balance.
In the second the bonus is "sticky" ("non-cashable", in the casinos' words), which means that it is played but never withdrawn: at the first withdrawal the casino deducts it from the balance, so that a player who has turned $200 of deposit and $200 of bonus into $900 withdraws $700. The second family is older than it looks, and it is not a swindle if it is written, which it always is, somewhere in the "terms and conditions".
A sticky bonus of three hundred per cent can be a good deal for a player who wants volume, and a poor one for a player who wants his money back on Friday. The "automatic" bonus (credited with the deposit without being asked for, as opposed to the "opt-in" bonus that must be claimed) is the other thing to watch.
A player who did not want it finds it stuck to his balance, with its wagering, unless he declined it in the "cashier" (the payments section) or wrote to support before depositing; most casinos allow it and few advertise it. The refusal costs you nothing and takes a minute.
Max bet, time limits and the games that count
Three clauses stand around the wagering, and they void more winnings than the multiple itself. The "max bet" is the largest stake allowed while a bonus is active (often $5 or $10 a spin), and a higher bet, even once, lets the casino cancel the bonus and the winnings made with it. The time limit gives the player seven, fourteen or thirty days to complete the wagering, after which the bonus and its winnings are removed from the balance.
The "contribution" table says which games count towards the wagering: slots in full, video poker and blackjack for a tenth or a fifth, roulette often not at all (a bet on red and on black at once would complete the volume without risk). A player who accepts a package of $1,000 with thirty days to wager $35,000 must bet more than $1,100 a day, every day, on slots, which is a job rather than an evening.
The "high roller" offers on our page of high roller bonuses (the "VIP" packages, in the casinos' words) exist for the players who deposit at that scale; for everyone else a smaller bonus with a lighter wagering, or no bonus at all, is often the better arithmetic, as our world list of free offers shows. The "bonus hunter" who takes every package knows this better than anyone, and the casinos know him too, which is why their terms forbid "low-risk" betting while a bonus is active.
How we chose these packages
Three filters, as on every list of this site: the licence read on the regulator's register where a register exists, the terms read offer by offer, and the trial in demo mode, in which we open the "lobby" (the catalogue of games) and the "cashier" with virtual credits.
The four older houses (Luxury, Grand Hotel, Golden Tiger, Villento) belong to the Casino Rewards group, online since the turn of the century under a licence from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (with Malta for some markets, as our guide to legit online casinos explains), and they were chosen for their age and their published terms rather than for their popularity, which was never large.
Legend Play and Royalist Play are recent names of another stable (with Festival Play), and Legend Play operates under a licence from Curaçao and no other, which is why both are rated with the caution of the "offshore" class. The licence is checked on the register, not in the footer.
A licence from Curaçao certifies that a company exists and has paid for a permit; it does not give the player a regulator that answers complaints within a set time, an obligation to keep player funds apart from the company's, or a public register of sanctions. Our rating for such houses stays between two and a half and three and a half, whatever the size of the package, and the larger the package, the more a player should want a regulator behind it.
The honest limits of this list
This list is short on purpose, because a package is only as good as its terms, and we would rather present six that we have read than sixty that we have not. It is not checked every week. The percentages and the ceilings change without notice, and a card is an offer published at a given date, not a promise of ours; the questions readers ask most often are on our FAQ page, and the free offers at the other end of the scale on the page of free spins.
Frequently asked questions
That the casino adds one hundred per cent of the deposit as bonus money, up to a ceiling of $1,000: a deposit of $100 brings $100 of bonus, a deposit of $1,000 brings $1,000, and a deposit of $1,500 still brings $1,000.
It depends on the house, and the terms say which: thirty times a bonus of $200 means $6,000 in bets, while thirty times deposit and bonus together, on a deposit of $200, means $12,000.
A bonus that can be played but never withdrawn: once the wagering is complete, the casino deducts the bonus from the balance at the first withdrawal, so that a player who turned $200 of deposit and $200 of bonus into $900 receives $700. It is written in the terms under the name "non-cashable", and it is not a swindle if you read it before the deposit.
At most casinos, in the cashier before the deposit or by writing to support, and a player who wants to withdraw when he pleases is often better off doing so, because a declined bonus carries no wagering, no max bet and no deadline. An automatic bonus that you did not decline in time is subject to its terms like any other.
A ceiling on the stake of each spin or hand while a bonus is active (often $5 or $10), written in the terms: a single bet above it allows the casino to cancel the bonus and the winnings made with it, which is the most common reason for a refused withdrawal after a large package.
No, every casino on this page was tried by the editorial team in demo mode, which means virtual credits and no deposit, and what we write about payments comes from the operators' documents.
The biggest bonus is rarely the best one, and the best one is the package whose wagering a player can complete with the money and the time he has. Read the base, the multiple, the max bet and the deadline before the first deposit, decline what you do not want, and treat the rest as entertainment; 18+, and the law of the country where you are located decides whether playing with these operators is allowed.
