Slot and game reviews

A slot review is worth what its method is worth, and ours is short to tell: we play every game in "demo" mode (free play, with credits of no value), we read its "paytable" and help pages, and we write from what the game itself prints. They are the provider, the reels and the lines, the return where published, the volatility, the features and the places where the game can be played.

The "RTP" (the share of the stakes that a game returns over millions of spins) is the figure we look for first, since it separates the studios of Europe, which print it in every title, from RealTime Gaming and Rival, which leave it to the casino or do not publish it. The "volatility" (how irregularly the return comes back) is the second, because it decides whether your budget lasts an evening or ten minutes.

One rating, and one only, appears among these reviews: Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme has 4 out of 5, an editorial judgement formed in demo on Lucky Nugget, while the other games, tried for the pleasure of describing them, carry no stars, since a rating implies a comparison across thousands of titles. The casino cards sit on each game's own page, with their published offers, and our About page tells the rest of the method (18+).

Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme (Games Global)

Thor's latest storm, released through Games Global on 31 October 2024, runs on six reels and 4,096 "ways" with a published return of 96.00 per cent (96.25 with the "bonus buy"), a very high volatility and a ceiling of 5,500 times the bet. The bonus choice between free spins and the Gold Blitz gives it its character, and it is the one game that we rate, 4 out of 5.

Golden Caravan (Play'n GO)

A caravan of 2016 on five reels and ten paylines, with a published return of 96.19 per cent, a high volatility and a ceiling of 5,000 times the line bet for five Caravan Masters (the "wild"). Three camels start ten free spins whose multiplier rises at every restart, while the base game is as poor as a desert between two oases; the camels do not hurry!

Tycoon Towers (Rival)

A luxury hotel on five reels and fifty adjustable paylines, with a coin of 0.01 to 0.25, one feature (a "sticky wild" that locks in place and grants a re-spin) and a ceiling of 600 times the line bet. Rival does not publish its return; the 95 to 96 per cent that the page gives is only the range of the studio's slots. The fifty lines multiply the stake faster than the fun!

Coyote Cash (RealTime Gaming)

An outlaw coyote on five reels and twenty-five paylines, chased by an eagle sheriff: the coyote is the wild and pays 10,000 times the line bet for five, and three bags of loot open "free games" in which every win is doubled. A random jackpot can fall at the end of any spin, the return is set by each casino (which is the rule for every "Real Series" title) and the volatility is medium.

Crystal Waters (RealTime Gaming)

A reef of 2011 on five reels and twenty paylines, with a dolphin for a wild on the second and the fourth reel and a yacht for a "scatter": three yachts open fifteen free spins in which a Bonus Fish multiplies the win by two, four or eight, up to sixteen with the dolphin. The volatility is very high; the return is set by the casino, around 96 per cent at the top.

Flea Market (Rival)

A three-reel slot with one payline and two coins, in which a family of cartoon fleas haggles over lollipops, urns and a diamond ring that is both the wild and the top prize (4,000 coins with one coin, 10,000 with two). The published return is 96.9 per cent, the volatility is low, and three golden coins open a "pick" bonus among the urns. It makes a small budget last longest.

Fruit Frenzy (RealTime Gaming)

A circus of 2008 on five reels and twenty-five paylines, with a banana as ringmaster, a pineapple as wild (10,000 coins for five) and a strawberry as daredevil: five strawberries open the Daredevil Bonus, up to twenty-five free spins with a multiplier of three. A random jackpot sits above the reels, while the return is set by the casino (up to 97.5 per cent) and the volatility is low to medium.

Roaring Twenties Bingo (RealTime Gaming)

A solo "video bingo" in the gold and red of a jazz club, with up to one hundred cards per round, an "Extra Balls" option (five more balls in the draw) and three progressive jackpots, one for the card that covers all twenty-five numbers (a "coverall") and two that fall at random after a draw. The return is set by the casino, and the number of cards decides how long a hundred lasts.

Keno (an article of 2015)

An article of 2015 on keno, the game of eighty numbers in which the player picks up to fifteen, written when the casino presenting it was among those we worked with and kept today as testimony of how a "specialty game" was sold in those years. The figures and the operator belong to that time, and nothing on that page is a current offer.

Roulette on the iPhone (an article of 2014)

An article of 2014 on playing roulette on the iPhone, written when the telephone was becoming the casino and the "app" was a novelty worth a page, kept as testimony rather than as a guide, since the applications it describes have changed many times. A player who wants the wheel today finds it in any telephone's browser, and the single zero still beats the double. We keep it for the record.

The older slot articles

Our news archive keeps the articles of 2014 and 2015 in which the casinos announced their new slots: Max Damage and Red Hot Devil at Golden Riviera, Santa Paws on Golden Riviera Mobile (Christmas 2014), the multiplayer Playboy at Platinum Play, The Argyle Open, the three-reel Major Moolah, and Jurassic Park (Platinum Play, August 2014). They are testimony, in the past tense, and none of them is a current offer.

Frequently asked questions

The demo runs the same mathematics as the real game, so it shows the features, the paytable, the rhythm of the payments and the temper of the volatility within a quarter of an hour; it says nothing about the casino, that is deposits, withdrawals and support, which the reviews take from the operator's own documents, since no deposit was made.

A return of 96 per cent means that every hundred staked comes back as ninety-six on average over millions of spins, while the casino keeps four (the "house edge"). Golden Caravan prints 96.19, Flea Market 96.9 and Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme 96.00, whereas the titles of RealTime Gaming leave the figure to each casino, so that the same game can pay you back differently at two houses.

Because Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme is the one game we judged, in demo on Lucky Nugget, with the reasons set out on its page, while the others were tried for the pleasure of describing them. A rating implies a comparison across a catalogue that we have not made, and we would rather give you no stars than borrowed ones.
