News archive 2014-2016: casino promotions, wins and new games, kept as testimony
Between 2014 and 2016 this site published the releases that the online casinos of the time sent to their affiliates (tournaments, announced wins, new games), and we have kept twenty-three of them, rewritten in the past tense, because they record how a casino spoke to its players before today's regulators taught it caution. Nothing here is a current offer, and the casinos have mostly stopped operating under their names.
What survives is the games, sometimes, and the method, always. Many of the slots named below passed with Microgaming's catalogue to Games Global (2021-2022) and still turn in other lobbies, while the "freerolls", "rebuys" and "freeplay" hours of those years have outlived the brands that invented them; the current offers are on our world list, and the games we have played in demo are in the slot hub.
Each article keeps what the release said and adds the arithmetic that the release left out, so that you find the stake behind the prize and the deposit behind the bonus. Where a page carries an affiliate link, it leads to a casino of the same software still among those we present (never to the house of the release), and the year groups follow the year each page states.
Ad disclosure: some casino links are affiliate links; we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never affects our ratings. 18+.

Major Moolah pays $20,000 at Malibu Club
A release of 2016 in which Malibu Club, a casino with Rival software that later closed, announced a $20,000 payout on its Major Moolah progressive without a date or a stake. 2015
Keno, as Raging Bull presented it
An article of 2015 in which Raging Bull, a casino with RealTime Gaming software that is not among the operators we work with, presented keno as a "specialty game": eighty numbers, up to fifteen picks, a "Quick Pick" button and the payouts, while the page keeps the instructions and notes where the text and the classic game disagree.
Mega Moolah above three million
A release of 2015 in which Platinum Play announced that the Mega Moolah jackpot had passed €3 million and was "poised" to fall, with a spokesman expecting it "to burst any day now", the sentence of every jackpot release. We explain the four-tier wheel (Mini to Mega) and why the odds do not grow with the prize.
Gung Pow and Castle Builder at Crazy Vegas
A release of January 2015 in which Crazy Vegas announced two slots of Microgaming for 7 January, Gung Pow (a Chinese New Year game) and Castle Builder (a fantasy game of kingdoms), with a reshaped welcome offer and a lobby without download. Harry von Schlussel hoped the players would "enjoy the benefits"; the paytables were not quoted.
The Gold Factory freeroll of January 2015
A release of 2015 in which Crazy Vegas opened the year with a "FreeRoll" on Gold Factory, a €25,000 pool with free entry and €5,000 for the winner, from 10 to 20 January. We add the arithmetic of a leaderboard (the price of entry was volume, at your own stake), the €500 package and the "FreePlay" hour of €3,000.
Golden Era, Cricket Star and Loaded at Golden Riviera
A release of 2015 in which Golden Riviera announced three Microgaming slots for 4 February, arranged into one story for "the month of romance": Golden Era (fifteen paylines), Cricket Star (launched ahead of the World Cup of that year) and Loaded, back in high definition, while the page adds the welcome offer and the older release on the mobile version.
Red Hot Devil at Golden Riviera
A release of 2015 in which Golden Riviera presented Red Hot Devil, a Microgaming slot with twenty-five paylines and ten free spins (up to three wild reels). Its representative declared it "nearly impossible" not to walk away "pretty well cashed up", which no regulator would let pass today, and which we keep for that reason.
Casino-Mate's A$327,000 winner
A release of 2015 in which Casino-Mate, which addressed the Australian market, announced that a regular player known as D.C. had closed a run of wins with A$327,000, A$298,000 of them from one session on Burning Desire (243 ways). The page keeps the manager's quote and the welcome bonus of the time.
2014
Roulette on the iPhone
An article of 2014 on roulette "for the iPhone", written when the telephone was turning into a casino (the shops of Apple and Google held hundreds of thousands of applications); it told how to download, deposit and withdraw, and gave ten tips to the player with a handset in his pocket. We read them with today's eyes, and say what a wheel on a screen is worth.
A new player's A$30,000 win at Casino-Mate
A release of December 2014 in which Casino-Mate announced that a new member known as H.K. had won A$30,000 on Break Da Bank Again (a nine-payline slot that the release itself called a "high roller" game) and built the text on beginner's luck. The page keeps the manager's words, the vault's mechanics and the welcome bonus.
The €160,000 win on Power Spins Nuclear 9's
A release of 2014 in which Crazy Vegas announced that E.S. had won €160,000 on Power Spins Nuclear 9's, a classic Microgaming slot with nine paylines and a "Power Spins" button (all the lines at an additional bet); the winner had "leaped for joy" and meant to buy a car. We keep the offers of the time and the quote that every release of the group repeated.
The Festive Frenzy tournament on Santa's Wild Ride
A release of December 2014 in which Crazy Vegas announced "Festive Frenzy", a month-long tournament on Santa's Wild Ride with a pool of €125,000, €10,000 for the winner and prizes for the top hundred, which was not a freeroll (entry €10, "rebuys" €20). A player who used every option had spent €80 before the clock ran out!
Jurassic Park, the launch of August 2014
A release of 2014 on the Jurassic Park slot, which Microgaming put in its casinos' lobbies on 6 August under licence from the film studio: 243 ways, five free spins bonuses (one for each dinosaur) and the "T-Rex Alert" with thirty-five extra wilds, which the page keeps as Platinum Play published it, with a quote from Crazy Vegas's spokesman.
The Break Away freeroll of June 2014
A release of 2014 in which Crazy Vegas announced a "FreeRoll" on Break Away, an ice hockey slot of Microgaming with "Rolling Reels" and "Smashing Wilds", with a €20,000 pool, free entry and €4,000 for the winner. We explain what such a feature changes (the rhythm, not the return) and keep the dates and the package.
A $70,000 win on Gold Factory before Christmas
A release of 2014 in which Golden Riviera announced that an Australian player, C.H., had won "over $70,000" on Gold Factory (fifty paylines) on 11 December, without giving the stake: at $1 a line the win was worth 1,400 spins, at one cent 140,000. The page restores the casino's name, replaced in a later copy.
The Immortal Romance tournaments of Golden Riviera
Two releases of 2014 in which Golden Riviera announced a "Monthly Monster" on Immortal Romance (24 to 30 November, a €30,000 pool split among thirty players, €20 entry and up to ten "rebuys") and, in August, a freeroll of €20,000 on the same slot. We add the arithmetic of the fees, the game as it was played and the $1,400 package.
Max Damage, the slot launched in November 2014
A release of November 2014 in which Golden Riviera announced Max Damage for Wednesday 5 November, a Microgaming slot built around the hero of an older arcade title (243 ways, fifteen doubled free spins, scatters paying random prizes). The page keeps the $1,400 package and shows how much a player had to deposit to collect it.
Santa Paws, the mobile slot of Christmas 2014
A release of 2014 in which Golden Riviera Mobile announced Santa Paws for Monday 1 December, a Christmas slot of Microgaming (twenty paylines, up to twelve free spins, a "mystery multiplier" between two and seven) sold to players only beginning to play on a telephone. The page keeps the thirty games of that lobby and the welcome offer.

Loose Cannon and Untamed Crowned Eagle, the slots of March 2014
A release of March 2014 in which Golden Riviera announced two Microgaming slots for Wednesday 5 March, Loose Cannon (a pirate game with an expanding wild cannon) and Untamed Crowned Eagle (the fourth of the Untamed series), with the $500 package and the $2,500 "freeplay" hour. The page restores the casino's name and notes the fixed cadence of those deliveries.
The Playboy multiplayer slot of October 2014
A release of 2014 announcing a "multi-player" version of the Playboy slot of Microgaming (in the lobbies since late 2013), with "great new bonuses" worth "a total pay-out of $21,000" and no rule on their sharing; the release counted twenty paylines where the game paid on 243 ways, and we say so. The $500 welcome package of the time and its arithmetic complete the page.
The Argyle Open, the multiplayer golf slot of September 2014
A release of September 2014 in which Crazy Vegas launched The Argyle Open, a multiplayer Microgaming slot with forty paylines and a golf bonus in three stages, with a "100K Tournament" whose currency and first prize were not given. The page also carried the dates of a January freeroll, and we record the confusion rather than resolving it.
Why the archive stays
An archive of expired promotions is of no use to a player looking for a bonus (we say so on every page), but it is of some use to a reader who wants to see how the trade spoke ten years ago, with the same adjectives and the same silences. If you compare them with today's releases, you will find that the sums have grown and the silences have not. The archive is there for that.
