A double win of $38,982 at Maple Casino in November 2014: Fish Party and Girls with Guns

Historical testimony

This article was written in 2014 and we keep it as a record of how the online casinos of that time presented their games and promotions. The operators, offers and figures it mentions may no longer exist or may have changed, and nothing on this page is a current offer. 18+.

This article was first published in November 2014, when Maple Casino, a house of the Vegas Partner Lounge group that no longer operates under that name, announced a double win by a player known as S.V. (the release of the following month, which recalls the same double win, calls her S.N.) on two video slots of Microgaming. The sums were $28,099 on Fish Party and $10,883 on Girls with Guns Jungle Heat, won in a single night, and the release is kept here as a record of how a win was told then.

What the casino announced

Whether a player was after "gun-toting action or tranquil waters full of colourful fish", the release began, Maple Casino had a slot to suit every taste and mood, and its latest winner could testify that "serious rewards" were there to be had. The sentence is the whole method of those releases: a win is quoted as proof that wins exist, and the odds of the next one go unmentioned.

S.V. was spinning the reels of Fish Party, an aquatic slot described as "bright and cheery", when a fortuitous combination paid "a magnificent sum" of $28,099. The same player, not done yet, went on to Girls with Guns Jungle Heat and took $10,883 more, so that the night closed at $38,982; the release gave no stake and no date, which the second release of the house (kept on the page on her November wins) placed in October.

The two games, as the release described them

Fish Party had five reels and 243 "ways to win" (the system in which matching symbols on adjacent reels pay regardless of lines) and "scatters" (symbols that pay or open a feature wherever they land), which launched between eight and twenty free spins with multiplied wins. The spins could be won again during the round, and a "gamble" feature doubled or quadrupled a win by guessing a card.

Girls with Guns Jungle Heat, a slot "all about adrenaline-fuelled action", had the same five reels and 243 ways, free spins and an arsenal of wilds and scatters. The win, the release concluded, was "hardly surprising", which we would not sign, since a slot paying $10,883 to one player in one night is surprising by construction.

The winner's words

Asked what they liked about the casino, S.V. answered "consistent wins and great graphics", praised the personal emails and said of safety that there had never been an issue, "but it is rather transparent to me", a sentence that the release printed without explaining. The first thing after the win was "a glass of wine", there were no lucky charms, and the money had no destination yet, except a snow cone maker.

In our view these interviews are the most honest part of the releases of 2014, not because the answers prove anything, but because a person speaks in them, with the hesitations of a person ("um, I think I poured a glass of wine"), where the rest of the text speaks in the voice of a brochure. The casino chose the questions, of course. None of them asked how much had been played before.

The welcome offer of the time, and its arithmetic

New players were offered up to $300 over their first three deposits (100 per cent on the first, 50 per cent on the second and 200 per cent on the third, each capped at $100 according to the second release). The alternative was a "freeplay" of $3,000 in credits for the first sixty minutes, keeping "a portion" of the winnings, and neither the portion nor the "wagering" (the volume of bets required before a withdrawal) was stated.

A player who wanted the whole $300 had to deposit $100, then $200 (half of which is $100) and then $50 (twice which is $100), that is $350 of his or her own money for $300 of credits. It was a smaller package than the $1,400 that the sister casino Golden Riviera advertised in the same month (in its Max Damage release, kept in this archive). The hour of free play, instead, gave you fifty dollars a minute with an unknown share to keep!

The rest was the boilerplate of the group: more than 650 games by Microgaming, table games from craps to baccarat, and the list of the sister brands of Vegas Partner Lounge (Crazy Vegas, Golden Riviera and Casino-Mate among them, with their mobile versions). We report it as the casino wrote it, since we never tested Maple Casino.

Seen from 2026

None of the casinos of that group operates under its name today, and none is among the operators we work with, so that the $300, the hour of free play and the wins above are testimony and not an invitation; the two slots passed with Microgaming's catalogue to Games Global (2021-2022), and we have not checked whether they survive today.

The images on this page link to Platinum Play, a casino of the same software which is still among those we present (an affiliate link, as the box above says); its current terms are in our Platinum Play review, written after trying it in demo mode, and they prevail over anything printed here.

If you want to compare the offers of today, the world list of no deposit bonuses is the page, and the "free spins" of the current houses are on the free spins page, with the figures before the adjectives. The other announcements of those months are kept in the news archive, where you can read how the casinos of 2014 and 2015 told their wins.
