A €160,000 win on Power Spins Nuclear 9's at Crazy Vegas in 2014
This article was written in 2014 and we keep it as a record of how the online casinos of that time presented their games and promotions. The operators, offers and figures it mentions may no longer exist or may have changed, and nothing on this page is a current offer. 18+.
One hundred and sixty thousand euro is the sum in the address of this page and the sum of a release that Crazy Vegas sent out in July 2014. A player known only as E.S. had won €160,000 on Power Spins Nuclear 9's (a nine-line slot of Microgaming) at a casino of Vegas Partner Lounge, a group we do not list in 2026, and few of the group's announcements in this site's archive carried a larger figure that year.
The win, as the release told it
The text spoke of a win that "dwarfed most others", born of the right combination of symbols, and quoted E.S. as having "leaped for joy" at the sight of the balance, since no release of those years let a winner stay seated. The winner meant to travel and buy a new car, used no lucky charms and "really appreciated" the casino and its agents, which is all that this page can tell of E.S.
The manager and spokesperson, unnamed in the text, said that a big winner celebrating was "what this is all about", a line fit for any release of the group. Of the game and its odds that line said next to nothing. The game deserves the lines it was denied.
Nine lines and a button worth three of them
Power Spins Nuclear 9's was a slot in the classic manner, cherries, bars and bells on five reels of three rows (the 5x3 grid) and nine paylines, with a "nuclear" touch in the graphics and a device that Microgaming had bolted on. The "Power Spins" button, pressed at will, played all nine lines at once for an additional bet of three times the line bet (the coins staked on one line).
The same button switched on the "Rolling Reels" (the symbols of a win vanish, others drop into the gaps, a multiplier climbs with every consecutive win), which the release presented as a way of bringing "such success so much closer". Closer is a word for copywriters, not for mathematicians, because a device costing three times the line bet is a second bet laid over the first.
The "RTP" of a slot (its theoretical return, printed in the help panel) is a share of the stakes, indifferent to their size; the three extra bets enlarge the win, and the loss, of every spin, which is worth remembering before you press any button of the kind. The release said nothing of the return of the game that had just paid €160,000, which is the figure we would have looked for first.
The two offers of that July
In July 2014 the newcomer at Crazy Vegas chose between two roads: a "3-tier" deposit bonus of €500 over the first three deposits (100 per cent to a ceiling of €150, then 200 per cent to €100, then 50 per cent to €250), or a "FreePlay" of €3,000 in credits for sixty minutes of play, with a part of the winnings to keep under conditions that the release left to the terms.
A player who wanted every euro of the €500 put down €150, then €50, then €500 (€700 out of his pocket for €500 of bonus money); the tier that looked best on paper, the 200 per cent, gave the same €100 to a deposit of €50 and to one of €500! The "wagering" (the multiple of the bonus to bet before cashing out) sat in terms that neither you nor we can read now.
The FreePlay hour, ancestor of today's "free play" offers (a bankroll on loan, a clock, a cap on what may be kept), deserved the arithmetic the release skipped: at €2 a spin, twelve spins a minute, a player placed 720 bets in the hour, €1,440 in all, not half of the €3,000 lent to him. The clock, and not the balance, was the real limit of that gift.
The rest was the furniture of the group's releases, the "128-bit" encryption presented as the industry standard, the "web wallets" (electronic purses) of the banking page and a multilingual support desk open around the clock, claims that we quote without vouching for them, because we never tried Crazy Vegas. VPL (Vegas Partner Lounge) was also the group of 777 Dragon, River Nile, Casino-Mate, Maple Casino and Golden Riviera.
What is left of it in 2026
Crazy Vegas, Golden Riviera and Casino-Mate ran Microgaming's games for VPL, and we present none of the three today; the 3-tier bonus, the FreePlay hour and every figure above are gone, and Microgaming's games have been published since 2021-2022 by Games Global. Everything above is testimony, kept because the way a win was sold in 2014 is itself a document.
The pictures on this page open Platinum Play, a house of another group on the same software, which we still present and whose review tells how we tried it in "demo" mode (free play, no deposit). A win of €160,000 is rare, which is why it was news, and the two offers that rode along with it were the publicity's price, which is why the terms of a free play hour deserve a closer reading than the release, as our page on no deposit casinos reads the offers of today.
The Break Away freeroll of June 2014 and the other releases of those months are in our news archive, where you can read them in the words of the time, adjectives included.
